Catch Me Bird’s mission is to bring to life compelling dance and theater through scenes grounded in athletic contemporary dance, aerial choreography, and spoken dialogue.  Catch Me Bird investigates human connections encompassing dignity, diversity, love, and how we continue to strive for a global society routed in equality and aspirations that move us forward.  The art work of the famous painter of the Harlem Renaissance, Aaron Douglas, serves as the launching point to themes revolving around civil rights, equal opportunities, and the responsibilities that we have as humans to each other.  Through performances, master classes, residencies, special commissions, and educational projects, the company focuses on the act of collaboration and partnership as a springboard for human progress and growth.  Founder and Artistic Director, C. Derrick Jones, is a great nephew of Douglas.
